What you will practise on this page

14.6 · Modal verbs in the Perfekt and common past-tense choices
Use the requested past form. With a modal plus a main verb, use the double-infinitive construction.
- Put into the Perfekt: “He was not able to do that.”
- Put into the Perfekt: “She did not like that.”
- Use the Perfekt double infinitive: “He could not come.”
- Use the Perfekt double infinitive: “She had to work.”
- Use the common Präteritum form of sein: “I was at home yesterday.”
