13.1 · Subordinate clauses with dass
Arrange the words. Put the finite verb at the end of the subordinate clause.
Example: Build the sentence: ich weiß / dass / er / heute / kommen. → Ich weiß, dass er heute kommt.
- Build the sentence: ich weiß / dass / er / heute nach Hause / kommen.
- Build the sentence: sie sagt / dass / sie / Deutsch / lernen.
- Build the sentence: wir hoffen / dass / das Wetter / gut / werden.
- Build the sentence: er glaubt / dass / du / Recht / haben.
- Build the sentence: es ist klar / dass / der Kurs / morgen / beginnen.

13.2 · Indirect questions with ob and question words
Form the indirect question and put the verb at the end.

- Build the indirect question: er möchte wissen / wann / der Zug / kommen.
- Build the indirect question: sie fragt / wo / der Bahnhof / sein.

13.3 · Reasons with weil and da
Translate, using the German conjunction given.
- Join with weil: “I am staying at home because I am ill.”
- Join with weil: “He is not coming because he has no time.”
- Join with da: “As the weather is bad, we are not going for a walk.”
- Join with da: “As she is tired, she is going home.”
- Join with weil: “We are taking the bus because it is raining.”

13.4 · Time clauses with wenn and als
Translate: use wenn for repeated, present or future events and als for a one-off event in the past.
- Translate with wenn: “When I have time, I visit you.”
- Translate with wenn: “I will call you when I am finished.”
- Translate with als: “When we were in Berlin, we visited the circus.”
- Translate with als: “When I was a child, I lived in this city.”
- Translate with als: “She was very happy when she heard the news.”

- Build the sentence: er spricht laut / damit / alle / ihn / hören.
- Build the sentence: wir beeilen uns / damit / wir / den Zug / nicht verpassen.
- Build the sentence with a modal verb: er sagt / dass / er / uns / helfen / wollen.
- Build the sentence with a separable verb: ich weiß / dass / er / früh / aufstehen.
